Competitive Analysis of Garlic Supplements

Return to previous page

Introduction
EPI's garlic supplements contain certified levels of the following five markers: Allicin Yield, Thiosulfinates Yield, Alliin, Gamma-Glutamyl Cysteines, and Total Sulfur. Other companies offer garlic supplements that may or may not contain one or more of these marker compounds.

To provide a scientific basis for comparison across these five markers, 10 different garlic supplements were compared with EPI's A-8000 aqueous-based coated garlic caplets. Samples of the garlic supplements listed in the results table were collected at retail stores in California and sent to three independent laboratories for analysis of the above marker compounds plus selenium.
